Summertime Polishes I love summer! And I also love painting my nails in the summer - especially when I have worked up a great tan. ;) Well, Refinery29 is just as excited as I am and they have put together a great list of polish we should try out on our nails this summer season! Festival Nails A fun outdoor summer activity that many people enjoy participating in, are summer music festivals. From Bonnaroo, Warped Tour, Lollapalooza or even just a local music festival in your hometown festivals are a great way to enjoy the outdoors, see great entertainment, and be with friends. I myself am going to a Bluegrass festival in Virginia in a few weekends! Festival style is also a whole ball game of its own. So of course, you need the perfect nail polish to go with your concert clothes! It's not all about the neon this summer! Summer nail polish can almost almost be picked out by it "bright, neon, in-your-face hues". And while this is so very true, I have found myself this summer (when I am not painting my nails purple) going for more laid back colors or a nice subtle glitter polish instead.  After reading a Refinery29 article about Summer Color Trends  in make-up, I felt a little happier about nail color choices and a little less anti-summer neon color. In fact, some of this summer's hottest colors can even be worn into the fall and the winter!  Check out the article and let's hear what you think!! Is Black Back for the Summer? First off, I love my blog! I was viewing it this morning and my news reel to the side popped up a link that caught my eye (way to go blog!). The link lead me to a  Bustle  article about wearing black nail polish this summer season like Charlize Theron on the cover of Esquire.  While the article itself didn't move me much (*ahem* getting a gel polish manicure will Not kill you with it's UV rays unless you bake in the light for hours upon hours. Just to set that record straight.) the article did make me think about using black in my manicures this summer. I have always like dark polishes mixed with bright poppy colors - so maybe the author had something right - black polish really would look good with your bright floral and summer prints. Update Your Nails this Season Refinery29's Beauty Prep School paired up with Sally Hansen and created this great little video on how it is OK to finally mix and match your favorite colors for a fun and new updated look this season!  Check out the whole article  here  or just check out the video below! A Pretty Good Infographic! So like I said in one of my other posts, I follow Refinery29 and receive their emails pretty frequently. In the email I got today there was a great article with an even greater Infographic!  Except for the second part on #10 about skipping the "swoop over the nail tip" (I recommend capping all nails whenever you put any layer of polish on) this Infographic is one to keep on hand to help you get a great flawless at home nail polish job.
