A Radiant Bride

Image
A Radiant Bride This week my Best Fran ("Friend" for those of you who aren't her and me) is getting married!! I couldn't be more happy for her. Unfortunately as much as I wish, I can't be there for her special day. But she still totally made me feel like the maid of honor. So, check this out!  I have my very own personalized nail polish! AND it goes along with the color of the year. How lucky am I?!  Meg used a feature by Nails Inc. to specially order a bottle of nail polish that is named after me "Amanda - Maid of Honor". And this polish couldn't be more perfect!  Not only is this polish the perfe ct color, it goes on like butter! So smooth and so slick! The brush is also as soft as a baby's butt and it dried in no time flat! Another win for Nails Inc. But enough about my nails! Check out Meg's nails for her wedding. When you get married and you're thinking about your "something blue" try it out ...

The Radiant Phia

Image
The Radiant Phia Hi Everyone! Julep has done it for me again. This week's color is a great shimmering purple! Phia is described as an "alluring orchid iridescent chrome" (there's that orchid theme again, yay!) is an amazing polish.  Because of the chrome-like effect of this polish, it makes it last even longer. Its almost as long lasting as your toughest glitter polish! What's even better is that it dried really quick too and was perfect even with two thin coats of color. Another win for Julep, my nails, and my time!! However, my favorite part of this polish is the fact that it has a slight green shimmer to it when you put it into the light. So pretty! So shiny! and So sophisticated too! If you want to get a bottle of Phia just check out  Julep's Website ! Sometimes you can even find the polish at your local Sephora or on QVC. If you have painted your nails with a great color, show them off! I would love to share your n...

FLOWER Radiance

Image
FLOWER Radiance Good Evening Everyone! I am super excited for this weeks color of the week. Its a color by a new brand called Flower by Drew Barrymore.  Not only does this brand have nail polish, but they also have other great beauty products that you should try out.  I for one, just love the brand's philosophy: Philosophy You no longer have to spend a lot of money to get the quality cosmetics you want and deserve. How do we do it? We do not pay for advertising. Where other beauty brands spend a vast percentage of the cost of their products on ads, we do not. Drew, as an owner of the brand, takes pride in promoting Flower, which in turn allows us to put all of our resources into the formulas and packaging, and not into advertising. Custom-formulated with the same ingredients used in luxury make-up, our exclusive botanical-infused Soft-Focus Complex illuminates for a lit-from-within effect. All products are proudly made in the USA and are never tested on anim...

To File, or Not to File?

Image
To File, or Not to File? It's been a while since I posted a nail safety/salon safety post so I thought it was time to talk about something most people haven't realized they've been doing wrong or have been letting their nail technician do wrong. Did you know that there is a right and a wrong way to file your fingernails? The shape of your nails really tops off your manicure. So, before you start filing and painting away, it's important for you to know how to file your nails properly. First, choose the right kind of nail file. Sometimes, the cheaper the better - in many cases the most basic and inexpensive emery boards are more flexible and easier on your nails. The grit on metal files can often be too harsh and can cause your nails to peel and chip. Stick to a simple drugstore file, it should do the job and it'll save you some money too. I myself, use simple wooden core files that I buy in bulk from my nail products store. I like these files becau...

The Radiant Payton

Image
The Radiant Payton Hello! I hope everyone had a spectacular Valentine's Day with your friends, family or loved ones! I know that I did! I had a great visit from my boyfriend (that included chocolate) but I also got to see an amazing exhibit at the VMFA in Richmond and have dinner at one of my favorite dinner spots! Also, there was tons of snow where I live, so I had a great excuse to stay in, watch good movies, and also cook good food.  I got to see a great exhibit called Hollywood Costumes and it really made me think about the choices designers have to make when it comes to costume design. This also made me think about NAILS! Of course, right?! Would you consider painted nails a big decision choice when it comes to costumes? I think that I totally would! Maybe if we are lucky, this year they will feature movie stars with purple nail polish since it's the color of the year! Anyways, this week's color is a color that moves back into the purple category. It is a...

The Radiant Charity

Image
The Radiant Charity Good Afternoon! Its week four of the Fifty-Two Weeks of Purple! This week's color is a nice Zoya color called Charity.  I got Charity from Zoya during that special Zoya Steal I posted about! It is an absolutely lovely color that has a beautiful gold like shimmer.  When applying this color, I also used the Zoya Anchor and Zoya Armor for my base and top coat. So as a lovely Zoya sandwich I think it has caused me to have such lovely nails! To top off my Charity mani I used the Zoya Fast drops so I could keep on with the rest day without delay.  You can purchase a bottle of Charity  zoya.com   or at your local Ulta store or on Amazon.com. The Zoya  Anchor ,  Armor  and  Fast Drops  can also be purchased at Zoya.com. If you try your local Ulta store though you can find one of the travel packs! They are great if you don't paint your nails all the time and just need a small set to use. ...

A Radiant Mani in One Bottle: Update!

Image
A Radiant Mani in One Bottle: Update! It has been almost One week since I painted my nails with Sally Hansen's Complete Salon Manicure and I am so impressed!! There is a little bit of wear off on the the tips of my free edge, but it isn't really noticeable unless I'm poking you in the eye.  This excites me because I really have put some mileage on my nails this week. I have done tons of dishes, showered a bunch, cleaned up after 170 preschoolers, had chemicals on my hands from cleaning, used an exfoliating face scrub and much much more!  The color itself has stayed so so beautiful, although I do feel that it has dulled a bit faster than polish with an actual top coat painted on top.  All in all, I would give Sally Hansen's Complete Salon Mani a Thumbs Up! (yes...I am a diehard Supernatural fan...) I also would totally recommend this nail polish product as a great polish for a quick, but also lasting, simple manicure.  Interested in getting a b...
