Kale on your Nail

Kale on your Nail

So, as many of you are probably experiencing this season, I am becoming a bit overwhelmed at this new obsession over Kale. Yes, Kale - that bitter leafy green plant that everyone and their mother is turning into chips, adding to their salads, putting in their smoothies, and rubbing on their faces.

But now, it's in some nail polish! Well, basecoats to be exact. Nails Inc. London is coming out with another great line of polish called NailKale - maybe its a play on Nail Care? Here's another Nails Inc. Product I am sure my best fran Meg is going to Love!

Kale is full of vitamins and good stuff for our bodies, so I can see where the idea would grow to seem like a good idea to put the veggie in a polish. But is it really going to be that effective? In my opinion, probably not...Many people think that your nails need to breathe or they need vitamins and minerals to keep them looking great, when in all actuality, its the cuticles, eponychiums, and matrix that need all the love and care. Your exposed nail plate is essentially made up of keratin just harder. It would be more effective to apply a kale based cuticle oil or lotion to your hands than it would be to apply a kale based basecoat. On top of that thought, all the other chemicals you need to make a basecoat are going into the polish right alongside the kale...it's hard for me to believe the kale wouldn't get lost in the shuffle and lose it's effectiveness...

I am not trying to be a Debbie Downer; when this stuff hits the market I will be among those who try it out to see if there's anything special to it! But hopefully it will be a great product that hits it off with the health-nut kale-finatic people I know.
