Marsala and Evelyn

Image
Marsala and Evelyn OOPS! I skipped a week! But no worries - here is the color of the week for March 8th-14th. I absolutely LOVE this color! Evelyn is a gorgeous name, as well as a beautiful nail polish color! It is most definitely going down in the books as a new fave for the Marsala theme for the year. Really, I think I just like it next to my skin tone.   The bright pop of color needed two coats of color - but they dried moderately well! I also finished off my nails with the Julep Freedom Polymer top coat - LOVE.  (If you haven't tried it yet, you should!) By adding the Freedom Polymer top coat, I also increased my drying time. Freedom Polymer claims to leave you with dry nails in 5 minutes, and it does its job! I highly recommend this color for Work and for Play! Julep's Evelyn polish looks great with all sorts of outfits. If you want to purchase your own bottle of Evelyn,  check out  Julep.com . You can also purchase select bottles of Julep from QV

Marsala and Mary Lee

Image
Marsala and Mary Lee I have finally caught up with myself! Thanks goodness! This oxblood-esque color of the week for the week of March 15th-21st is Mary Lee.  Now, Mary Lee isn't your normal Julep color. This Julep color is a satin finish. Satin finish polishes are much like matte finishes, but they are still have a bit more shine to them. HOwever, they are not as shiny as creme polishes - and thats the point. Satin polish are supposed to be muted and smooth, but shiny, like satin fabrics.  My measly iPhone pictures don't do the satin finish any justice. But it really was a ice color to wear...even though when I took it off it left bits of red on my skin. Mary Lee  also dried quicker than regular polish, but still not as fast as matte polishes.  As for coats of color, Mary Lee  needed two coats for it to be as bold and deep as it needed. Both layers of the polish were thick, despite my trying to make the first coat thin. Overall, it was a nice color

Marsala's Angora Cardi

Image
Marsala's Angora Cardi First off, let's just say that I hope Marsala doesn't actually own an angora cardi...that would be sad..unless of course it was this magical bottle of nail polish!! The polish for the week of March 1st-7th is a Marsala spot on color by Essie named Angora Cardi.  This polih is great! Not only does it fit into the Marsala theme like a cat in a box, it also is beautiful and long lasting.  (cat in box) Ironically I had been on the fence for a while over Essie nail polishes. They just seemed to not excite me as much as they used to. So it was refreshing to find an Essie color that got me excited again. In my opinion, Angora Cardi  perfectly matches the color of the year! When applying this lacquer,  only two coats were necessary...and honestly, I think I could have gotten away with just one. As usual, Essie's drying time is just long enough. I personally am not a huge fan of the Essie base an top coats, so i didn't pai

Marsala's Fantasea

Marsala's Fantasea This nail polish is AMAZING you guys! Also, it happens to be the Marsala inspired color for the week of February 22-28! So pearly, and so pretty! This week;s color is a lovely color by Orly. I haven't posted about Orly on the blog before...no idea why...this stuff is great! My mom is the one that turned me on to this brand of nail lacquer - and I am glad that she did! This Orly polish, appropriately named Fantasea , is a wonderful pearl essence polish. It also went on smooth at butter!   The first coat of color had me a little bit worried, but after applying the second coat, I realized that my worries were for absolutely nothing! This color also dried within a reasonable amount of time.  If you haven't checked out the Orly Website , you totally should. Orly is stepping up their game and has a great new spring color line out, as well as some other great new products you should try. Can anyone say "a-base-coat-that-helps-r

Demi and Marsala

Image
Demi and Marsala I absolutely LOVE Zoya nail polish. So, for the week of February 15th - 21st is a lovely Zoya nail lacquer named  Demi.   Demi  is a beautiful color. I highly enjoyed wearing it. I also paired it with the Zoya's Anchor base coat and Zoya's Armor top coat for a complete Zoya manicure.  This polish needed two coats of color. The first coat was streaky! The second coat of color definitely evened it out...but not all the way. When I looked closely at my nails there were still a few streaky places.  Overall though when I put the top coat on, my nails looked good! This would most definitely be a great fall color to wear when summer is on it's way out.  If you are interested in trying  Demi  or Zoya's Anchor or Armor coats, check out their  website ! You can also purchase the base and top coats, as well as many other colors at your local Ulta store - that's where I got mine! As always, please share your manicures o

Joust Exiled Marsala

Image
Joust Exiled Marsala Hi polish lovers! I am slowly but surely catching up to myself! So, without further delay, here is the Marsala inspired color of the week of February 8-14th. This is such a hott color! It was perfect for the week of Valentine's without being your typical red color. Also, kudos to Ulta brand once again! While not be a super 2 week lasting nail polish, this polish still performed. Joust Exiled was great for the Holiday week and was a color that I could wear to work without feeling childish. Its a modern color. Maybe that's why it was exiled ...because it was just to differently awesome. Like previously used Ulta polished, this one went of very smoothly, although it definitely needed two coats of color to look as sharp as it did. I also used a base and top coat polish to seal the deal for helping this polish last about 9 days.   If you want to grab a bottle of Joust Exiled , check out your local Ulta store, or the Ulta website

Marsala's Two Cents

Image
Marsala's Two Cents Good day readers! For the week of February 1st-7th is a lovely rusty red glitter color! This week' color is an Ulta color caled My Two Cents  and it is a full coverage glitter that is pretty great! I have had other experiences with Ulta polish, and have been pleasantly surprised. The same goes for this full coverage glitter.  As well as being a great hit for the color of the year, Marsala , this polish was also pretty long lasting. This polish lasted about a week before chunks started chipping away. But, it was still a pretty good buy. Especially since it was only .97 cents!! Ulta usually has a great prices and deals on their polish, but ALWAYS make sure you check out their clearance shelves! Sometimes that's where I find the best polishes at the cheapest prices!  If you want your own bottle of My Two Cents  though you're just going to have to check out your local ulta store, in store or online.  As always, p
